The World of Gideon Irondell
The Quint
All Five Powers in One
Among the Zetash, each person is born with one expression: Stonewake, Greyweave, Heartward, Twinform, or Veilstep. But legends speak of something rarer — a Quint, one who can carry all five powers at once.
The Legend
Most people believe the Quint is only a story. Kull Kalijan is feared because he carries two powers. The idea of one person carrying all five is considered impossible by many.
The Five Expressions
A Quint would unite telekinesis, mind-bending, empathic sight, shapeshifting, and teleportation — abilities normally divided among the Five Tribes.
Why It Matters
If a Quint exists, the balance of the world changes. Some would seek to train such a person. Others would seek to control him. And some would fear what he might become.
More Than Power
The Quint is not simply the strongest possible wielder. The legend represents convergence: five abilities, five ways of seeing the world, and one person forced to decide whether power should dominate, protect, or heal.
In The Magnet of Marjon, the idea of the Quint becomes more than a myth. It becomes a question that could decide the future of the Barrens, Karthune, and the fractured world between them.
In Book One
The Quint legend begins as a lesson told to children, but it soon becomes the secret at the center of everything — the reason Gideon Irondell is hunted, protected, and feared.
